A Day in the Life of a Sparrow..

We believe that children need to spend as much time as possible outside in close contact with nature. We believe children need to run, play, explore, discover and then share what they learn in order to develop strong bodies, bright minds and happy hearts. Sitka and Sparrow Educators believe that children should have many opportunities to 'help' out with jobs such as setting and clearing the table, sweeping the floor, watering the garden, filling bird feeders and shoveling snow. We believe that a child’s self-esteem comes from useful activity.

Preschool Schedule:

*Our schedules are flexible and change slightly day to day* 

 

8:00-8:30 Arrivals/free playtime

 

9:00-9:30 Character building circle time, felts, stories, songs

 

9:30 Morning snack

 

10:00-12:00 Walk to park or playground, nature hike, help fill bird feeders, water garden

 

12:00-12:40 Preparation for lunch, lunch and clean-up

 

12:40-1:00 Nature story time in backyard or indoors according to the weather

 

1:00-2:30 Nap/quiet time - napping not mandatory

 

2:30-3:30 Craft time and Indoor Stations

 

3:30 Afternoon snack time

3:30-4:30 Backyard play or Nature Walk

​

4:30-5:00 Free playtime while awaiting pickup

 

Our Preschool centres provide care from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday with the exception of statutory holidays, including Boxing Day. Hours of care are contracted from child to child.

Infant Toddler Schedule:

11:15-12:00 Preparation for lunch, lunch and clean-up

12:00-2:00 Nap time (nap length is dependent on the child - we let them wake up when they are ready!)

2:00-3:00 Story time, indoor play

3:00-4:30 Backyard play

4:30-5:00 Pick-up
